Where TeamRetro is the better choice
Agile maturity models. Alongside health checks, TeamRetro ships assessment frameworks for measuring how a team's practices mature over time. QRetro has health checks and ROTI but nothing at that level.
Custom meeting workflows. You can define the phases a session moves through and reuse that as a standard across teams. QRetro's board flow is fixed.
A long-established product with a full feature matrix. Facilitator controls, anonymity options, private voting, smart grouping and timers are all present and mature, and the plan comparison is unusually transparent about what each tier includes.
Billing in your currency. US, Australian, Canadian, New Zealand and Singaporean dollars, pounds and euros. For a team outside the US that removes conversion friction and FX charges.
Where QRetro is the better choice
No per-team fee. The entry plan covers one team of 25. A department with six teams is on the US$900/year plan, and each additional team is US$15/month on top. QRetro does not count teams, so growing from one team to eight costs nothing.
The 25-member cap on the entry plan. A single team of 30 cannot use the cheapest plan and has to move up a tier. QRetro has no member limit on any board, and participants do not need an account at all.
There is a free plan. TeamRetro's trial runs 30 days. A team that retrospects fortnightly gets two sessions before a purchase decision is due.
Access from your assistant. QRetro exposes retrospectives over the Model Context Protocol, so Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code can query boards, health trends and open action items directly — including asking which themes keep returning across a year of sessions. See the MCP integration guide.
Choosing between them
Take TeamRetro if you want agile maturity models and custom meeting workflows, if a mature and fully documented feature set matters more than the price, or if billing in your own currency is worth something.
Take QRetro if the per-team pricing is what stops you rolling retrospectives out beyond the first team, if 25 members on the entry plan is too few, or if you want the retrospective history available to the assistant you already work in.
